EARLY LIFE AND ARTISTIC BEGINNINGS
Gagik Fahradyan (Faro) was born in Yerevan, Armenia. His artistic passion sparked at young age as he attended art school by seven. Soon after several of his artworks were sent to Moscow for children's art competition.
Military Service and Artistic Growth
After graduating from Art College in Yerevan he was sent to army in Germany. While serving he continued working on his passion. His woodcarvings and paintings won in defferent art competitions and displayed in major art galleries in Germany.
Soon after returning to Yerevan he started working at Armenian National Art Laboratories and continued on his lifelong dream of painting and woodcarving. He continued mastering his woodcarving techniques and soon his position was changed to head master carver in the Ana Labs.
A New Beginning in Los Angeles
During his years in lab as head of woodcarving department, Indira Gandhi visited their lab and was mesmerized by Faro’s work. Gandhi was given one of his favorite woodcarvings.
In 1988 Faro and his family returned to Los Angeles. He was commissioned for various churches in Pasadena, Monte Bello, Orange County. In 1995 Faro found his original style, Modern Classic.
Exhibiting member
Faro is an Exhibiting member of Beverly Hills Art League, Valley Artist Guild. He has been participating in in several shows in Los Angeles County, including Pacific Design center, Viva Gallery, Lankershim Art Gallery, Noho Art allery, Glendale Civic Center Art show, Anzoh Gallery, Norik Gallery, Landau Fine art Gallery, Revue Art show, 100 Armenian Artists show, Genocide, Barnsdall Art gallery.
There is something unique about Faro and his Art. Like Vincent Van Gogh born on March 30 1853, one of the greatest artists of his time, exactly 100 years later Faro was born on March 30, 1953. He is definitely a great artist of his own time.
